Eternity rings are most often worn by women – although men’s eternity rings are also becoming very popular nowadays. An eternity ring is a precious metal band, usually made from gold or platinum. Full eternity rings have diamonds or precious gemstones that go all around the band in a continuous line. Half eternity rings only have stones set across the top face of the ring. Eternity rings were first worn by the Egyptians. In old Egyptian hieroglyphics dating back to around 2000-1800 BC, the circle was a powerful symbol that represented eternity. Eternity rings are usually given at special times in a relationship. A wedding day, an anniversary or the birth of a first child are perfect times to gift one of these rings to a loved one. They can also mark big birthdays or be elaborate Valentine’s Day presents. Eternity rings immortalise love and act as reminders of cherished moments in a couple’s life together.
